Eyes wide open!

The Bris

Adam had his Bris yesterday and is now circumcised and named. For those of you who don't know what a bris is below is a little information for you.

The word Bris means covenant; the word Milah, to cut. Ritual circumcision is the covenant God has established with the Jewish people through the commandment of circumcision. The Bris ceremony has two parts:the actual circumcision and the naming. It is customary to honor family and friends to participate in holding the baby at various parts of the bris. The highest honor is to be the sandak, who holds the baby during the actual circumcision. It is not required to have a minyan- a group of ten at the bris. The parents can choose to have a private ceremony on the eighth day and have a reception on a later day when they are more rested. The naming of the child is the most emotional part of many bris ceremonies. Ashkenazic-European Jews have the custom of naming after the deceased. The immortalizing of a close relative or friend is a beautiful tradition. Sephardic Jews have the tradition to name after the living. A child may have one or more names, in accordance with the parents' desires. Adam's hebrew name was after my aunt Esther who past away last spring, Elijah.

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday. It was a special day in Adam's life and we are so happy that you could share it with us.

Adam already has a girlfriend who is 9 hours older than him!

Adam Robert LaRochelle

Adam Robert was born on Friday, February 16th at 10:40 PM, weighing 7lbs. 4oz. and 20 and 1/2 inches long. Many of you are asking about how my labor went, well here it is!
I started having contractions off and on all day Friday, but didn't really think that I was in labor. So, Eric and I went out for Mexican that night as planned(I figured spicy food would help move the process along) while we were at dinner I was still having contractions but I didn't really think anything of it since they were so sporadic. Eric was a wreck at dinner. I decided when I got home I would just call the Dr. to let him know that I was having contractions, he then told me to go to the hospital to have them check me. I thought they would send me home and I would just relax and watch Greys Anatomy and get some sleep(by the way I haven't watched it yet, thank god for DVR). We went to the hospital and by the time they got me admitted and all that jazz it was 8ish and they told me I was 7cm dilated. My labor was so fast that I couldn't believe that he had arrived almost 3 hours later.
Ean is loving being a big brother. He helps change his diapers and bath him. He is really is cute with him. Except for a little sleep deprivation we are all doing very well.

40 Weeks

Happy Valentine's Day! Today is my due date and no signs of baby yet, the day is not over though(I am keeping a positive outlook). I went to the doctors yesterday and I am 3cm dilated so it could be any time now or it could be days. I don't know what to do with myself, especially today. Hopefully cupid will bring me a little bundle of joy for Valentine's Day!

Ean has been so excited for the snow storm that we received today. Eric stayed home from work and Ean is so happy that he has a buddy that can actually roll around in the snow with him instead of a human snowman(that would be me) that can only really make snowballs and watch.

Ean went four wheeling in the front yard in his truck!

Is That Snow I See

Ean couldn't believe his eyes today when he woke up there was snow outside and he was so excited! He ran into our room and said, "Mama there is snow on the ground!"Eric and Ean were outside playing in the snow at 8AM and they didn't want to come in. You would think that we got a foot of snow the way these boys were playing. Hopefully we will get a big storm soon so Ean can make a great big snowman.
